Notes for stakeholder reviewers

Thank you for helping to review and refine the draft Active Transportation Plan networks! We will be accepting comments on the Regional Active Transportation Corridors from March 26 through April 13.

The Regional Active Transportation Corridors present a vision of well connected linear routes that are regionally significant and where people walking, bicycling, and using active modes should expect a high level of comfort.

Below are three types of draft corridors:

  • Existing Corridors where an active transportation facility is present. Not all existing facilities along identified corridors on this map are high comfort. While some may currently meet a high level of comfort (e.g., separated bicycle lanes or shared-use paths), some existing facilities may not meet. These corridors are candidates for either facility upgrades or capacity expansion.
  • Planned/Proposed Corridors, which include envisioned major paths or connections, as well as core bicycling or walking routes identified through local planning efforts (e.g., routes enshrined in city, town, or county bicycle or pedestrian plans) or by DRCOG.
  • Network Gaps, which have been identified by the project team as potential connections but have not been identified in previous planning efforts (or may just not be known to DRCOG yet!).

The below comment map also identifies routes from DRCOG's 2019 Active Transportation Plan that have been proposed for removal, in most cases because a parallel alternative may be preferred.

For more information about the criteria used to define and select the network, please review the Draft Regional Active Corridors Criteria.
