Project description

The Denver Regional Council of Governments, in partnership with Arapahoe County, is developing a plan to enhance mobility and connectivity along the Florida Avenue corridor. The plan will look at potential improvements for better pedestrian, bicyclist, transit, and micromobility access along the corridor. The study is expected to be completed in February 2027.

This study is funded through DRCOG’s Livable Centers and Innovative Mobility Set-Asides.

Project goals

  • Improve Active Transportation: Enhance pedestrian and cyclist safety, comfort, and connectivity along Florida Avenue.
  • Micromobility Hubs: Evaluate the feasibility of establishing micromobility hubs along the corridor, particularly adjacent to the Eloise May Library.
  • Shared Micromobility Services: Feasibility of extending shared micromobility services to the project corridor.
  • Cross-Jurisdictional Coordination: Address challenges posed by the project spanning across multiple jurisdictions: the City and County of Denver, City of Aurora, and unincorporated Arapahoe County.
  • Support Livable Centers: Envision a Livable Center at the intersection of Florida Avenue and Parker Road.
  • Increase Mobility Options: Provide diverse transportation options to underserved communities, including low-income and transit-dependent populations.

Project location

Florida Avenue Corridor, spanning from Cherry Creek Trail to the west of Quebec Street in Denver to the Florida Light Rail Station in Aurora (approximately 4 miles), including the Four-Square Mile neighborhood in unincorporated Arapahoe County.
