The Advancing Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Implementation project is a collaborative effort led by DRCOG with a primary goal is to develop a roadmap for how the region can fund and finance the next five corridors identified in the 2050 Regional Transportation Plan: Colfax BRT Next (from I-225 to E-470), Alameda Avenue, Speer/Leetsdale/Parker, Broadway/Lincoln, and the extension of C0-119 (from Longmont to I-25).
This study is a collaborative effort between DRCOG and the Regional BRT Partnership, which currently includes:
- City of Aurora.
- City and County of Denver.
- Colorado Department of Transportation.
- City of Littleton.
- City of Longmont.
- Colorado 119 Coalition (represented by City of Boulder).
- DRCOG.
- RTD.
The major elements of this project include:
- Updating capital and operating cost estimates for all five corridors.
- Developing a funding and financing strategy for the region's BRT system.
- Assessing potential legal and regulatory opportunities and constraints related to BRT implementation in the region.
- Identify possible private partnership models to fund, build and deliver BRT.
- Develop BRT design guidelines to support uniformity across the BRT system in the Denver Region.
